The Solu Khumbu region would be probably the most popular destination, but it is more expensive and difficult to get to Solu Khumbu than to the Annapurna area. To get near Everest, you must either walk for a week or fly to Lukla, a remote airstrip where flights are notoriously unreliable. Solu Khumbu is not only famous for the highest mountain on earth, Mount Everest, but also for its Sherpa villages and monasteries. The normal goal for trekkers is the Everest Base Camp, but you cannot see Everest from there, so you have to climb Kala Pattar, a 5545m bump on the southern flank of Pumori.
